Canada – U.S. Bilateral Commercial Relations – Where Are We Headed?
Canada and the United States have historically enjoyed a strong and stable trade relationship. Despite disagreement on some issues, this long-standing cooperation has led growth and prosperity on both sides of the border; however, a spectre of change and uncertainty hangs over the relationship. The looming renegotiation of the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), a potential border adjustment tax and increased measures to enhance ‘Buy American’ policies could fundamentally change the dynamic of mutually beneficial growth.
This panel will explore what these uncertainties mean for companies doing business on both sides of the border, whether or not the Canada-U.S. relationship is under threat, and what we must do to maintain the relationship and strengthen cross-border trade.
